€200,000 has been donated to the Irish Cancer Society in the last 24 hours as a result of the "No Make-Up selfie".

The social media craze has grown spontaneously as a viral movement online.

It is not directly related to the Irish Cancer Society, but the charity says it is very grateful for all the donations made so far.

It involves women taking photos of their faces without make-up on - using the The #NoMakeUpSelfie - and people who view it can donate money to charity.

The money raised will fund breast cancer services and research.

Kathleen O'Meara is head of advocacy and communications with the Irish Cancer Society,

She says they are thrilled with the unexpected donations.
