A 21 year old man has been charged in the North in connection with an alleged kidnapping in Co. Louth.

At around midnight on Thursday a 20 year old woman was dragged into a car in Dundalk and taken to a house in Newry, Co. Down.

The woman managed to escape to safety later in the night.

The man, who appeared in court yesterday, was also charged with false imprisonment, indecent assault and motoring offences.

A 25 year old woman who is said to be the driver of the car, was also arrested, but has since been released on bail.
