A 21-year-old childcare worker saved a six week old baby’s life by performing CPR on him in the carpark of the Ilac Centre in Dublin on Tuesday evening.
Nikita Hutch spent 10 minutes resuscitating the baby after he stopped breathing.
Nikita spoke to Jonathan Healy on Lunchtime about the incident and how relieved she was that he started breathing after the CPR:
"I don't even know what was going through my mind."
"I just tried everything I could, CPR, recovery position, opened his airways, tilted his head back, turned him on his belly, turned him on his back.
"He wasn't responding.
"I put him on his back on the ground and tilted his head back and blew into his mouth. He was responding to that. So we put him into the recovery position and he started to cry.
"He was blue and purple and his lips were blue."
Unfortunately, Nikita doesn't know what happened to the baby after he went to Temple Street.
"I'd love to meet the baby again."
