There have 25 been more coronavirus-related deaths in the Republic.
The total number of deaths here now stands at 235, according to the latest figures from the Department of Health.
Meanwhile, 365 new cases have been confirmed today - meaning the nationwide total has now reached 6,074.
13 of the newly-reported deaths happened in the east of the country, eight in the north, two in the south and two in the west.
The median age of the patients who died is 80, while 18 were reported as having had underlying health conditions.
Data released this evening - covering the 5,981 cases confirmed as of midnight on Monday - shows that 224 COVID-19 patients have been admitted to ICU.
Meanwhile, 1,568 of the total cases are associated with healthcare workers.
Today's figures have been released as the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has warned that it's too early for countries to start lifting social distancing measures.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the National Public Health Emergency Team will meet on Friday to consider how well the current coronavirus restrictions are working.
He said: “Ireland continues to follow ECDC guidance with regards to testing, contact tracing and the implementation of community measures such as physical distancing and cocooning.
"This is the most effective way we have of slowing down the spread of this virus and saving lives."
Authorities in Northern Ireland today confirmed another five people have died there after being diagnosed with COVID-19..
That brings the total number of deaths there to 78 - with the total on the island of Ireland now at 313.
84 new positive cases were also reported in the North in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,339 confirmed cases.
