Meanwhile receivers have also been appointed to the companies which operate Clerys Department Store in Dublin.

But Newstalk’s Business Editor Ian Guider says jobs here should be safe as a buyer has already been found.

The receiver is set to quickly sell on the debts of the company of about €29 million to American investment firm Gordon Brothers.

The store will open tomorrow as normal and the 140-plus employees will be re-employed on their current terms and conditions

However the subsidiary companies of Clerys ”“ Guineys on Talbot Street and stores in Naas and Leopardstown – are going to go into liquidation putting the 29 jobs at risk.
