2fm is 'asking the ridiculous and getting the correct answers', a former presenter has said.
It comes after the departure of a number of high-profile presenters from the RTÉ radio station in recent weeks including The 2 Johnnies, Doireann Garrihy and Jennifer Zamparelli.
The developments have led to speculation on its future and viability.
Former 2fm presenter Keith Walsh told The Hard Shoulder he isn't surprised people are leaving.
"RTÉ, starting with 2fm, have decided to clamp down on presenters [and] giving them the kind of contracts where they have to tell RTÉ what work they're doing," he said.
"Not only that, they've to tell them what money they're earning from that work - work external to their contract or their show.
"I'm not sure it's legal to do that".
Mr Walsh said the approach means some presenters have "all the responsibilities of an employee with none of the benefits and the security that comes with it."
"They're being given contracts that don't work," he said.
"Some of them are going, 'We were kind of bigger than 2fm when we came to the station and we can make more money and - in Doireann's case - not having to get up at 4 o'clock in the morning.
"The 2 Johnnies are off to Australia, so it's asking the ridiculous and getting the correct answers".
Mr Walsh said a suggestion that The 2 Johnnies are bigger now because they went to 2fm is "non-sensical."
Head of 2fm Dan Healy earlier branded suggestions the station could be shut down as "nuts."
He said the fact that the station "is on the front page of every paper today" shows "2fm matters."
