Four people have been arrested after a violent carjacking in Limerick in the early hours of yesterday morning.
At about 1.40am, a man in his 30s was forced off the southbound lane of the M20 motorway at Dooradoyle and robbed at knife-point.
The victim was injured and treated at Limerick Regional Hospital, but has since been released. A sum of money was taken off him during the incident.
During follow-up searches four people were arrested yesterday afternoon, two men and two women. Three of the suspects remain in custody, one woman has been released.
The two men (25 and 31) are currently being held at Roxboro Road garda station under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The two women (28 & 31) were taken to Henry Street garda station, where one remains in custody, held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The other woman, who was detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 was later released, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Two cars seized during the operation are being technically examined.
