There may already have been more leaks than a freshly installed water meter, but this is still sure to be a big event.

With the scavenging through sound bites of the last few days it might be easy to forget that this book has been written by Roddy Doyle – one of the writer’s most capable of teasing out the insecurities and demons of the middle aged male mind. If the book as a whole piece of work lives up to its potential the Robbie Savage putdown will be relegated to a mere footnote.

The UK is now rated as the country third most likely to see Ebola arrive on its shores. Yesterday we learned that the Spanish nurse diagnosed with the illness only learned of her condition when she read about it online.

The UK is sending 750 troops to fight the disease in West Africa and it appears that, maybe, Europe is waking to the dangers of the Ebola virus spreading beyond Africa and the risk it poses the continent. Tomorrow could see more crucial developments.
