Some 31 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip a day after top judges in the United Nations (UN) court ordered Israel to halt its offensive in Rafah.

Media reports say the Shaboura camp and areas close to the Kuwaiti Hospital were targeted.

Fighting in the Gaza Strip has continued after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel on Friday to halt its offensive in Rafah, citing “immense risk” to the population.

The court also ordered Israel to open the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza to allow in humanitarian aid.

It also said Israel must provide access to the territory for investigators and report back on its progress within a month.

Israel maintains that it is focused on eliminating Hamas fighters in Rafah.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the order "false, outrageous and disgusting".

Israeli representatives have insisted the Rafah campaign will not "lead to the destruction of the Palestinian civilian population", adding it would continue to allow aid to enter Gaza "in accordance with the law".

The ICJ is non-binding.

More than 35,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's offensive in Gaza, Gaza's health ministry says.

Israel began the offensive after Hamas attacked southern Israeli communities on October 7th, killing around 1,200 people and seizing more than 250 hostages, according to Israeli tallies.

The bodies of three hostages taken by Hamas in October were found this week, according to the Israeli military.

The Hostages Families Forum named them as Michel Nisenbaum, Hanan Yablonka and Oryon Hernandez Radoux and said their bodies had been returned to Israel for burial.
