A man has been remanded to Clover Hill Prison after being charged with the rape of a woman with special needs.

The 31 year old was arrested last Monday and appeared before Dublin District Court this evening.

The victim who's in her mid twenties was walking with her mother on South Circular Road in the capital on the 12th of June when they became separated.

Gardaí believe the woman was then taken to a house in the area where the assault took place.

The man is due back in court next Friday the 28th of June.
