340 new positions are to be created at firms around the country.

Dell is creating 300 new jobs with the opening of a new financial services division. The technology giant is setting up a new bank in Dublin to offer credit facilities to its corporate customers.

Dell Financial Services is based at the European headquarters of the computer giant in Cherrywood.

The company already employs 2,500 people in Ireland at its facilities in Dublin, Limerick and Cork. The €400 million investment will provide finance to companies who are buying their products.

Meanwhile 40 new full-time sales and management positions are to be created across the country by field-marketing agency Lites Group.

It provides support to major firms including Paddy Power, Easons and Glaxo Smith-Kline. It says the new positions will be based across the country. It is looking for salespeople with strong technology skills.

It is looking to expand its Irish base after entering the Australian market last year.

Managing-Director Martin Duffy has more details.
