A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car overnight in Co. Meath. The man who was aged in his 40s was injured on Castle Street in Trim.
Another man who was also hit by the same car is seriously injured in hospital.
Shortly before 1am this morning gardaí were called to the scene of a fatal collision in Trim. A man in his 40s had been walking along Castle Street when he was struck by a car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan.
A second man, in his 20s, was also struck by the car. He has been taken to the same hospital in Drogheda and his injuries are described as serious.
The driver of the car was uninjured. The road is closed pending a forensic exam and diversions are in place.
