A post-mortem examination has been completed on the body of a 46-year-old man who died after an assault in Kilkenny.
It happened on Castlecomer Road in the early hours of Thursday morning.
A 46-year-old man was taken to St Luke's Hospital with serious injuries.
He was pronounced dead shortly before 11.00pm on Thursday night.
However Gardaí say the results of the post-mortem will not be disclosed for "operational reasons."
A man aged in his 30s, who was arrested in relation to this incident, continues to be detained at Kilkenny Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A woman in her 20s was released without charge.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.
They are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the Castlecomer Road/Gas House Lane area between 3.30am and 5.30am on Thursday - including any road users who may have camera footage - to contact Kilkenny Gardaí on 056-777-5000.
