At least 47 children have been killed after their school bus collided with a train in Egypt.

It happened in the city of Manfalut - south of the capital Cairo.

The bus was carrying 60 children between 4 and 6 years old on the way to school.

A security official says it appears that the level crossing was not closed as the train sped towards it.
