Vodafone says it will roll out 4th Generation (4G) data services in Ireland by next summer.
Earlier this month Irish mobile phone operators bought blocks of spectrum that were freed up by the switching off of the old analogue TV signal.
Vodafone says it secured the largest allocation of spectrum in the market meaning it will be first to offer customers 4G.
The company says this will mean faster uploads, quicker downloads and live streaming without the wait.
Faster, better speeds
The roll-out will provide for upload speeds up to 10-times faster than 3G, download speeds 4-times as fast as well as enhanced music, video and game-playing for people on the move.
Vodafone says this will allow for quick access to photo sharing and cloud storage.
The provider has over 2.35 million mobile and fixed subscribers in Ireland and employs approximately 1,300 people in Dublin and Dundalk.
Almost half of these work in customer care and customer support.
