Five men have been arrested as part of the nationwide anti-burglary operation, Operation Fiacla.
Following reports of two burglaries at around 9.30pm in Drumshambo, Co. Leitrim yesterday evening gardaí set up checkpoints on the N4 near Longford, and on the M4 between Mullingar and Enfield.
They stopped and searched a car on the M4 at Johnstown last night, recovering cash and other items.
Three teenagers, as well as a man in his 20s and another in his 30s were arrested at the scene.
They are being held at Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim; and Ballymote and Sligo garda stations in Sligo under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
