The Hangover III comes out tomorrow and although Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and co are a good laugh, actual hangovers are much less so to put it mildly.
There are a lot of so-called remedies and concoctions which claim to cure the dreaded Fear.
But there are natural ways of combating the dehydration and dull aches and pains which are often a calling card the morning after.
Bananas
Why? Bananas contain potassium which the body loses when you are hungover. Of course if you feel like throwing up, eating something soft and chewy isn't going to help which is why a banana smoothie is the way to go.
Water
Why? Water is quite an obvious choice as it helps combat dehydration which is a natural consequence of drinking alcohol.
One glass of water for every shot, can or glass of booze is the recommended intake. In terms of timing, drinking water during or immediately after a night out reduces the effects of a hangover.
Tomatoes
Why? Tomatoes contain fructose which helps metabolize alcohol in your body. Tomato juice comes highly recommeded although Bloody Marys also have restorative qualities.
Asparagus
Why? Asparagus helps lessen the toxicity of alcohol in the liver and as a natural diuretic, it helps you flush toxins out of the body. Asparagus smoothies exist but you might prefer to chew it down.
Honey
Why? Like tomatoes, honey contains plenty of fructose. But it also has the added benefit of containing potassium which has the same effect as bananas.
Put it in a smoothie or take small teaspoons every half hour.
