A new survey by CPL Recruitment shows that over half of Irish people are not happy with the careers they are currently in.
The survey said that "this highlights that many people have fallen into their jobs either by necessity or due to the fact that they did not know what they wanted to do or perhaps never took the time to work out what their ideal job was.
"It is also hard for people once they have reached a certain level in their role to make a career change as they risk a drop in salary to start afresh which many aren’t prepared to take.”
The survey also found that nearly half of men think that men are paid more than women.
Despite employment improvements in Ireland and positive economic growth more than half of those surveyed also said they do not expect a pay rise this year.
Two thirds of employees said that they would take a pay cut for the ability to work more flexibly. According to the survey "This highlights the frustration many employees have with traffic and commuting."
Speaking about the recent survey, the Director of CPL Recruitment Peter Cosgrove says a lot of workers find it difficult to leave their job.
