At least 6 people have died in election day violence in Turkey. Dozens more were injured in clashes in the south of the country.

Over 50 million people are eligible to vote in the municipal elections which see the ruling AKP party under pressure over corruption allegations.

The government has blocked Twitter and Youtube in Turkey, after taped conversations allegedly implicated the Prime Minister in corruption.

The opposition has described the prime minister as a "dictator" but the Prime Minister claims the tapes are part of a politically motivated smear campaign.
