500 new hi-tech jobs are to come on-stream in Dublin over the next 10 years.
Global database management company 10gen confirmed the creation of 60 jobs earlier this year for their new Europe, Middle East and Africa hub in Dublin.
Recruitment has already begun for those positions in technical development, HR, Legal and Finance.
The announcement today that 500 more jobs are being create comes as 10gen enters a 3-year period of expansion.
Speaking at today’s official opening the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said "The opening of a new and larger headquarters for its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa is great news for the city and the sector, and shows once again that harnessing Irish talent is a key element in the international strategies of the emerging wave of leading worldwide companies".
Barry O’Dowd, Manager of Emerging Business at IDA Ireland, added "Big data is a key growth sector and 10gen is a global company offering an open source database platform to help companies derive value from their data. It is a welcome addition to the Irish tech community"
Demand for MongoDB skills is the second fastest growing of all skills worldwide, according to Indeed.com. 10gen was listed as one of the top 10 startups by the Wall Street Journal.
10gen has 600 commercial customers including many of the world’s leading brands.
Company CEO Max Schireson says they are pleased with the quality of the workforce in Ireland.
