6 people were found strangled to death and one decapitated in south Mexico yesterday. It is the latest mass killing to hit the tourist resort of Cancun in the last few weeks.
Police found the bodies of the 5 men and 2 women in a shack in the outskirts of the city.
They are believed to have been independent drug dealers, the deputy attorney general of Quintana Roo state said.
Reports say police later presented 7 men as suspects in the killing.
However this killing came on the same day a man's body was found gagged, bound and wrapped in sheets elsewhere in the city. While last month a gunman opened fire in a bar in a suburb there killing 6 people.
Cancun is a popular tourist destination with more than 3.3 million visitors every year.
More than 70,000 people have been killed in drug-related violence in Mexico since 2007. The Mexican President has promised to end the violence.
