7 men are due in court today charged in connection with the seizure of €4.6 million worth of cannabis plants at various locations around the country.

They were held following searches in counties Louth, Mayo, Dublin, Wexford, Westmeath and Longford between Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

One man is due in court in Gorey County Wexford, two in Drogheda County Louth, while 4 men will appear at Longford District Court.

Another man who is being questioned at Mullingar Garda station in County Westmeath has had his period of detention extended.
