Almost 7,000 people have been arrested as part of Operation Fiachla, in the past 18 months.
The figures have been released as senior gardaí meet in Templemore in Co Tipperary for a two day conference.
Operation Fiachla targets individuals and gangs of burglars who travel around the country.
Of the 7,000 people over the past year and a half, almost 4,000 have been charged.
Other items on the garda conference's agenda include road safety as we head into the winter months - and the roll-out of community orientated policing, which has seen the closure of a number of smaller garda stations.
Gardaí say they are confident there has not been - nor will there be - and diminution of services as a result of the closures.
