Fire crews are still at the scene - and the street remains closed.
Three units of the fire brigade were called to the fire in the North Cork vilage of Rathcormac near Fermoy, after the alarm was raised at around 7.45 yesterday evening.
The man's body was found inside the house - his remains have now been taken to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem will be carried out later.
The scene has been preserved and a technical exam will be conducted this morning - but Gardai say they are not treating the fire as suspicious.
Fire crews are still at the scene - and will remain on site until the area is made safe.
