The Lord Mayor of Dublin says he expects around 8 in 10 of the City's businesses to be open next week.
Phase 3 of Coronavirus restrictions takes effect on Monday, with hairdressers, cafés, hotels, gyms, cinemas and pubs that serve food allowed open.
Dublin City Council is asking the public to walk or cycle as opposed to taking public transport, as capacity is still lower than normal.
Lord Mayor Tom Brabazon says work is underway to allow them extra space for social distancing purposes.
He said that some businesses subject to licensing requirements from the council, will be able to, for example, put seating in the streets.
"Subject to not blocking fire escapes or disability access, and with all very important safety measures in place."
