Up to 8,000 homes and businesses are without power today - following yet another night of stormy conditions. The south of the country has been worst affected.
Lightning strikes and gusts of over 100 kilometres per hour battered the country overnight - causing damage to power lines.
There are cuts to electricity supplies in various parts of the country - but the south and south east seems to be worst hit.
3,500 homes and businesses are without power in Enniscorthy and Wexford - while 2,500 in Bandon Co. Cork have also been affected.
ESB says the remaining 1,500 outages are scattered throughout the country - but particularly in Mayo and the Mid west.
Crews are currently repairing the damage and hope to have full service restored by mid afternoon.
