The Jobs Minister Richard Bruton says the creation of 90 new jobs at Glanbia is a "major boost" for the food sector.
40 of the positions will be based at a new facility in Monaghan to produce long-life milk and cream for export to China, Europe and the Middle East.
Glanbia - which makes Avonmore and Premier dairy products - is also opening a new office in Dublin to co-ordinate exports of its sport nutrition brands - with the creation of 50 new jobs.
The new facility in Monaghan will manufacture a range of standard and fortified UHT milk and cream products, including export versions of Glanbia’s market dairy leading brand, Avonmore Milk. Up to 40 people will be employed at the new centre, which will open early in the New Year.
The announcement comes after the Taoiseach and the agriculture minister recently stepped up efforts to engage markets in China, carrying out trade missions to the country. China is active in seeking sustainable sources of quality dairy produce globally, to meet its growing domestic demand for dairy.
Glanbia's Global Performance Nutrition is setting up its new Europe Middle East and Africa head office In Dublin, creating up to 50 skilled jobs in the capital.
