At around 8.50am the man in his 40s was seriously injured when the car he was driving collided with a wall on the Ballybofey to Fintown road at Dooish.
He was taken by ambulance to Letterkenny Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The road is closed this morning for a forensic exam and diversions are in place.

Gardai at Ballybofey are appealing for witnesses.
