Golden Globe winning actress Laura Dern may be starring opposite her father veteran actor Bruce Dern for the first time later this year.
The actress who has worked with a series of leading directors from Stephen Spielberg and Robert Altman to Paul Thomas Anderson and most frequently David Lynch says she is working on a project with Bruce Dern that the pair hope will come to fruition in a few months time.
Speaking to The Green Room during her visit to Kerry, Dern said she wasn’t heartbroken by her father’s failure to win the Oscar for his role in Nebraska because of his attitude at the awards ceremony.
“My father turned to me and said ‘isn’t this amazing, I’ve been acting since I was a 20 year old, now I’m 78 .and just to be appreciated like this.. I’m so thrilled just to be invited to their dinner.’ It chokes me up just thinking about it," says an emotional Dern.
The actress who has appeared in many of David Lynch’s movies from Blue Velvet to Inland Empire said the director would definitely be making another film soon and she has no doubt she will be working with him for the rest of her life.
Dern who like Lynch is an advocate of transcendental meditation said it is a practice that has served her beautifully in many areas of her life.
She conceded disappointment with HBO's decision to cancel the TV Show Enlightened, which won critical praise and for which she won a Golden Globe.
The actress was in Dingle to receive the Gregory Peck Award for excellence in the art of film, presented by Peck’s daughter, filmmaker Cecilia Peck in conjunction with the Dingle Film Festival.
Laura Dern planned to go hiking in Kerry, visit the beaches and of course meet our famous dolphin.
