The Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has rejected claims made by a former IRA prisoner that he was a commanding officer in the IRA.
Dolores Price made the claims in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph.
Mr. Adams said she has “deep personal issues”.
She said that Mr. Adams was a central figure in the IRA during its bombing campaign in the 1970s.
The Fine Gael chairman Charlie Flanagan has called on Mr. Adams to make a statement to the Dail to clarify claims that he was personally involved in IRA bombings and executions.
But Gerry Adams told reporters at Leinster House today that he rejects the accusations made by Dolores Price.
He says he will not be making a Dáil statement on the matter and that he has “no case to answer”.
But the Sinn Fein leader says he cannot afford to try and stop her from making the claims.
