How can a short-sighted man get better in bed?

On this week’s So You Think You’re an Adult segment, one woman wrote in to say that she and her boyfriend had been seeing each other for four months.

They get on very well and she believes the relationship has potential.

However, there is one problem she hopes to tackle.

“He’s quite badly shortsighted and wears strong prescription glasses,” she told Moncrieff.

“However, he refuses to wear them in bed as he feels they are not attractive and they keep falling off when things get too athletic.

“The problem is this; when he isn’t wearing his glasses, he often gets lost. He struggles to find things, a misplaced hand there, an errant leg there.

“Unfortunately, it means he often doesn’t manage to engage in the situation as well as one might expect.

“It’s literally hit and miss. I have suggested contact lens but he’s allergic to the solution they come in.

“I’ve also suggested that he allows me to guide him but he rejected this idea as he feels it would make me his carer.

“How do we find a practical solution?”

On the programme, Mary McEvoy suggested being more subtle about directing things during sex.

“I don’t think it’s anything to do with the glasses that he can’t find things,” she said.

“You can go, ‘That’s that and down a bit further is that.’

“The one thing that threw me is the errant leg; I don’t know what that’s about.

“Let’s assume that our chain is not being yanked here and what do you say to him?

“What do you say to him if he doesn’t want to wear the glasses? I think she can guide him without him knowing he’s being guided.”

Declan Buckley suggested she buy him a different pair of glasses that won’t fall off when they are having sex.

“I think she needs to get him the glasses for the long distance runners. You know the ones where they’re strapped to your head?” he said.

“I do think there’s a stupid [belief] that glasses aren’t sexy that has to be removed.

“There is a thing that a lot of people prefer when antics in the bedroom are convenient and easy.

“So, going to find your sexy glasses and strapping them onto your head kind of takes the edge off.

“I think if there’s open communication between two partners and saying that there’s an errant leg or whatever would the solution not be to put your glasses on and if she’s saying it repeatedly, maybe he’ll go, ‘Yeah I will.’”

He added that perhaps the glasses are a “red herring”.

“They’re not related to the real problem, which is that there’s maybe a little bit of crap sex happening,” he said.
