Pilots with Aer Lingus are to strike for eight hours on Saturday, June 29th, in what is an escalation in the pay row with pilots union IALPA.
It will take place between the hours of 5am and 1pm after the union's demand for a 24% pay rise was rejected.
It follows the cancellation of 124 flights by Aer Lingus earlier today ahead of planned industrial action by pilots.
That will impact around 4 thousand customers a day, according to the airline.
It says that is the lower end of the 10 to 20% of flights it had suggested would face cancellation.
However, additional cancellations may happen close to the time of travel.
A work to rule by pilots represented by IALPA will begin on Wednesday.
Aer Lingus dispute
Earlier, Tánaiste Micheál Martin once again called on both sides of the dispute to engage in talks.
“It's unacceptable, in my view, that the industrial relations machinery of this state, which is quite sophisticated now and has resolved many more intractable disputes, that that is not being used to the fullest to get this dispute resolved,” he said.
“I call on both sides to get back around the table and to get this sorted.”
Taoiseach Simon Harris has described it as “utterly reprehensible” that children due to go on holiday could be used as “pawns in an industrial relations dispute”.
