Pilots union IALPA has decided not to issue a response yet to a Labour Court proposal aimed at resolving the pay dispute at the airline.
The Executive of the Irish Airlines Pilots’ Association met today and are looking for clarification on certain aspects of the deal.
After that, the Labour Court recommendation of a 17.75% pay rise will be put to an electronic ballot of members.
IALPA President Mark Tighe says all members will then have to vote and make a decision.
“After we receive a reply, the Executive will then make a formal decision whether to recommend to accept or reject,” he said.
“Then there’ll be a series of meetings for the members.
“Because of the nature of flying and the hours involved, that’ll occur over five days so as many members as possible can actually get into the room and ask their own questions.
“It’s them who will be voting and it’s very important they understand.”
The union had previously called for pilots to be given a pay rise of 24%.
