Aer Lingus has cancelled a further 25 flights next week as industrial action by the airline’s pilots continues.

The airline also expects to announce additional cancellations in the morning.

Aer Lingus has blamed the Irish Airline Pilots' Association (IALPA) for the disruption and said it understands the cancellations will cause "anxiety" to passengers.

Earlier this week, the Labour Court recommended pilots be given a pay rise of 17.75% and pilots are currently being balloted electronically on whether to accept or reject the offer.

Flights cancelled today were due to depart on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th and impacted travellers will be contacted by Aer Lingus this afternoon.

Those on cancelled flights will be given the option to change their flight for free, a refund or an Aer Lingus voucher.

“Aer Lingus fully understands the anxiety being experienced by customers given the uncertainty caused by IALPA’s industrial action and is giving impacted customers as many options as possible,” the company said.

Aer Lingus pilots had orginally asked for a pay rise of 24%.
