A meeting between Garda management and the AGSI members who staged walkouts during their annual conference has ended late tonight.
All parties issued an agreed statement afterwards.
In it, the four delegates from Carlow and Kilkenny expressed full confidence in the Garda Commissioner Martiin Callinan.
The statement reads as follows:
"This following agreed text reflects the result of a meeting today between Assistant Commissioner Fintan Fanning and the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors at the Garda College Templemore.
"The President, General Secretary, and Vice Presidents of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors together with the four representatives of Kilkenny Carlow Branch of AGSI met with Assistant Commissioner HRM and Chief Superintendent PSU today at the Garda College.
"The four representatives of Kilkenny Carlow branch of the AGSI indicated that they meant to cause no offence to the Commissioner. They personally have full confidence in the Commissioner of An Garda Síochána. The Commissioner enjoys the full confidence of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors.
"The speech by the Garda Commissioner to Conference and his comments on the RTE News at One on to-days date were particularly helpful and magnanimous and have re-enforced the excellent relations between AGSI and Senior Garda Management.
"Members of AGSI will never shirk their responsibility to either the Garda Commissioner or members of the Public.
"The representatives of the Kilkenny/Carlow Branch regret that this whole matter has been played out on TV and in the Public Arena.
"All parties consider the matter now resolved and look forward to continuing to serve the Community".
