The AGSI General-Secretary says the Garda Commissioner is entitled to pull-up 4 Gardai over walking out on the annual conference earlier this week. But the AGSI says they are supporting their members.

The 4 sergeants left the AGSI annual conference during speeches by the Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan and Justice Minister Alan Shatter. They are due before a disciplinary board in Templemore later today.

It is understood they could face sanctions including verbal warnings, suspension or fines. Yesterday the AGSI said they should not be disciplined for the action.

Commissioner Martin Callinan lashed out at them publicly saying it was no way to treat the Minister Alan Shatter. Mr. Shatter is also reported to have said he is glad he did no bring his wife to the event.

AGSI General-Secretary John Redmond says he fully supports the sergeants. He spoke to Breakfast here on Newstalk.
