Spoof disaster movie Airplane has been named the funniest movie of all time, according to a new poll that appears on page 3 of The Daily Mail. The 1980 film, which stars the late great Leslie Neilson has produced such classic one liners as ‘I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley’.
Online subscription service Lovefilm undertook the task of calculating the precise number of laughs a minute to find the top ten comedies. The panel recorded the total number of times each film generated a laugh and divided it by its length in minutes to calculate the precise laugh a minute gag rating. Â Also in the top ten were Superbad, Borat, Anchorman, American Pie, Bridesmaids, Shaun of the Dead and Monty Python’s Life of Brian.
