Airtricity is to increase its gas and electricity prices from next month.
It is following in the footsteps of both Bord Gais and ESB Electric Ireland
Airtricity said it would raise its gas prices by 8.5%.
The cost of electricity will also rise by 4.7%.
It says that this will result in an average weekly increase of €0.96 in electricity prices and an average weekly increase of €1.33 in gas prices for customers on Airtricity lower-cost standard tariffs.
However Airtricity says it is not increasing prices for customers who have had difficulty paying bills and are on pre-pay meters.
Stephen Wheeler is Airtricity Managing Director.
“We sincerely regret having to increase our prices at this time” he said.
“Unfortunately however factors outside of our control, such as the increase in gas and electricity pass through costs and the cost of the Euro against Sterling, mean that these price increases have become unavoidable” he added.
Around 370,000 domestic electricity customers and around 110,000 domestic gas customers will be affected by the change.
