Aldi and Lidl are recalling batches of houmous because they are contaminated by salmonella.
The houmous, produced by Zorba Delicacies, is sold by Aldi under its ‘The Deli’ brand and in Lidl under the ‘Meadow Fresh’ brand.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said the presence could make the product unsafe to eat.
Customers are advised not to eat the batches included in the recall:

People infected with Salmonella generally develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection; however, the FSAI said this can range between six and 72 hours.
The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody.
Other symptoms may include fever, headache and abdominal cramps.
The illness usually lasts four to seven days
The Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness.
