The National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management (NDFEM) says its severe weather team have been monitoring Storm Atiyah, with Met Éireann, as it moves towards Ireland.
NDFEM have been in contact with local authorities, and standard emergency response and coordination arrangements - as well as public information messaging - have been activated.
The NDFEM has also contacted the Department of Transport, which will relay the current warnings to transport operators.
The Coast Guard is issuing public safety advice for all coastal areas.
This storm will coincide with neap tides along the west coast.
But based on the current forecast, the Office of Public Works (OPW) says it does not foresee "significant coastal flooding."
And the NDFEM has also linked with ESB Networks, which are on standby to respond to any damage to the supply network arising from Storm Atiyah.
Gardaí are advising cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians to be aware of the danger posed by high winds as they are particularly vulnerable.
"Drivers of high sided vehicles should take all necessary precautions and pay attention to the warnings.
"We ask people living near coastal, cliff and waterway areas, particularly those with children, to be extra cautious considering the gusty winds forecast", Gardaí say.
