Amateur footage has emerged of disturbances at a north Dublin beach yesterday evening.

Gardaí were called when hundreds of revellers caused disturbances on Portmarnock beach. It is understood two gangs of youths began fighting and throwing bottles.

A number of Garda cars were sent to the scene and 3 people were arrested on public order offences.

Meanwhile Irish Rail also had to stop its 16.14 Drogheda to Pearse service at Portmarnock yesterday because a group of young people on board the train were causing problems for the driver, and other passengers.

Irish Rail's security team contacted the Gardaí who attended the scene and removed the offenders.

Peter Coyle from Fingal County Council says this is a recurring problem for the area.

"These types of incidences seem to always happen at the end of the school year. It happened last year and on similar occasions when there's fine weather and the message gets out there 'Lets all head to Portmarnock and have a nice day drinking" he said.
