An American Airlines plane with 212 passengers on-board has made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport.

It is understood the Boeing 767 plane was on route from Manchester to Chicago when an emergency occurred. The nature of it is not being disclosed.

All of the passengers have now safely disembarked the plane.

The Emergency Plan at Shannon was fully activated for the landing, though a spokesperson said flight disruption has been kept to a minimum.
