Anne Gildea is a writer and performer, best-known for her work as part of the comedy trio, The Nualas.

She was born in Manchester in England, but she spent much of her childhood in County Sligo, after her family moved to a farm there when she was five and a half.

After graduating from DCU’s predecessor, the NIHE, with a degree in Communications Studies, she moved to London where she trained as an actress.

On her return to Ireland in the mid-90s, she formed the Nualas, and since then they’ve enjoyed 17 theatre runs, including six sell-outs at the Edinburgh Festival.

Anne was successfully treated after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. She lives in Dublin, and she has a sister, Una, and a brother, Kevin, who is also a well-known comedian.

And these are Anne Gildea’s musical heirlooms…

The Nualas have some gigs coming up:

  • Cork: Everyman Theatre, Sat 3 May
  • Galway: Town Hall Theatre, Sat 10 May
  • Roscommon: King House, Sat 7 June.
