The 39th anniversary of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings is being marked in the capital. 33 people, including a pregnant woman, were killed and hundreds more injured after a series of car bombs were detonated on May 17th 1974.
The names of all those killed in the 1974 bombings were read out at a memorial close to where one of the bombs bomb ripped through Talbot Street in the heart of Dublin. Two others were detonated with no warning just before 5.30pm on Parnell Street and South Leinster Street.
26 people, including an unborn child, were killed in the Dublin attacks. Another 7 died when a car bomb exploded in Co. Monaghan a short time later in what is remembered as the darkest hour of The Troubles.
In 1993 the UVF claimed responsibility for the atrocity but so far no-one has ever been brought to justice.
Campaigner Robert Ballagh believes the British government has evidence about the killers and he says it is time for answers
