An apartment has been searched in Cork as part of an investigation into illicit alcohol being sold to people sleeping rough in the city.
The multi-agency operation involves gardaí along with Revenue, the Food Safety Authority (FSAI) and the HSE.
During the search of an apartment today, officers seized homemade alcohol, hundreds of bottles for packaging, a quantity of cash and a baton.
The alcohol in question is suspected to be of a "high strength", and has not undergone any quality controls.
It's thought a suspect has been selling the alcohol to people sleeping rough for around €10 - 13 per bottle.
An estimated 120 - 240 litres were being sold every week.
No arrests have been made, and the FSAI and HSE are investigating "with a view to a prosecution from a public health concern".
