Gardai in Dublin are appealing for information following a vicious attack in the city last night.

A 24-year-old woman was reportedly slashed during the assault on O'Connell Street at around 8pm.

It is believed a row broke out between two groups near Clerys Department Store. A number of passersby witnessed the attack and an ambulance was called.

The crime scene was sealed off last night to allow for a technical examination to take place.

She was taken to the Mater Hospital but has since been discharged.

Any witnesses to the attack are being asked to contact Store Street garda station.
