Gardaí in Galway are appealing for information after a shop manager was held at gunpoint during an armed raid at a shop and post office in Inverin in Connamara.
The manager was out socialising at a pub in Inverin last night and when he went into his car to drive home at around 11:45pm a man carrying a gun jumped into the passenger seat beside him.
He demanded he drive to the shop An Siopa Phobail and there he tied-up the shop manager and stole a substantial amount of cash.
No shots were fired and the shop-worker was not hurt during the incident.
The thief then made his getaway in the car of the shop manager.
It was later found in Spiddel.
Superintendent Noel Kelly of Salthill Garda Station is heading up the investigation.
