More people are being urged to carry organ donation cards in order to save children on transplant lists.

It's as Temple Street Childrens Hospital in Dublin reports its busiest ever year for kidney transplants this year.

Of the 16 transplants carried out in 2012, seven children received their new kidney from a living donor.

Dr Niamh Dolan from the hospital says the numbers are rising as more people decide to donate their organs.

She says she sees first hand the impact such a decision can make on a childs life:

Alternatively, you can collect a donor card at your local pharmacy, you can also sign the back of your driving licence to indicate your wishes or discuss your wishes with your next-of-kin.

People are reminded to please sign the back of their donor card.
