A man in his 30s is in a serious condition in hospital after being found with a serious injury in Limerick City last night.
Gardaí responded to reports of man "with what appeared to be an injury" walking on the Ennis Road around 10pm last night.
They discovered the man - who had a gash to the head - in the Westfield Park area.
He was taken to University Hospital Limerick, and it's understood he has since been transferred to hospital in Cork for treatment.
Gardaí still aren't sure how he came to be injured and a technical examination of the scene is continuing this afternoon.
They're appealing for witnesses who were in the Westfield Park and Ennis Road areas between 8pm and 2pm.
