Gardai in Co. Cavan are appealing for witnesses to a single vehicle road crash, in which an 18 year old man was killed.

The accident happened outside Shercock on the Kingscourt Road at around 5 o’clock yesterday evening.

The driver of the van died after he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned – he was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Cavan General Hospital.

A 17 year old male passenger was also taken to the Hospital, where his injuries are described as not life threatening.

The road remains closed this morning and anyone with information is asked to contact Bailieboro Garda Station.
